Miner's Ravine Trail | Roseville California Trails

I've had several people find this blog lately and so I am thinking maybe I should keep it up!! Ever since having a third child (which at this point was over a year ago...no more excuses, right??) I feel like life has just become crazier and crazier! I'm sure it won't stop being crazy, so I'll just learn to deal with it. Since this blog isn't necessarily about my personal life, I will spare you the details :)

Along with parks I am going to be adding other fun things to do with kids such as hiking trails, museums, etc. that I have found and that maybe you would want  to try too...or maybe I can save you the trip if I tell you it's a waste of time...haha...

Today I'm rambling about the Miner's Ravine Trail in Roseville. CLICK HERE for a map to the Sierra College entrance. There are MANY entrances and several places where it splits off or enters neighborhoods, but the main trail is about 4 miles long and goes from Sierra College Blvd to Folsom Rd. Almost to downtown/old Roseville.

Every time we have been on the trail there are lots of walkers and some bikes, but very few "hard core" bikers, I like to call them. The ones who speed past you and get annoyed when you are in their way :) This was very family friendly and there were TONS of wildflowers! We took these pictures just a few weeks ago probably at the peak of spring flower season. So, if you missed them this year, try and go next year in early April...and bring your kids and your camera!

Overall, I think this is a great trail for families, especially if you have little ones. So much to explore and it is right here in the middle of Roseville!

You even get a little looksy at me and my family :)

And look! A geocache! And we weren't even looking for it.

Nisenan Community Park

This was a GEM of a park! Seriously, my husband found it with my son and it was just beautiful!! Along the eastern edge of Folsom, where is runs into El Dorado Hills, sits this neighborhood park and there were so many things to do.

We went in the evening too and the evening light was gorgeous hitting the hills behind us. At the top of the park (it sits on a hill) is a baseball field and it looks almost as if you are playing in the middle of nowhere because there is literally nothing but hills and trees behind it. There is a cute little spray park along with a play structure. Anyway, I will list everything below. Go visit. It was worth the drive...in my opinion...but I love to enjoy a pretty park.

Amenities
Play structure
Water spray park
bike trail
basketball court
baseball field
restrooms
showers
picnic tables

Located at the end of Woodglen Drive in Folsom

(This park isn't on the map yet but the nearest cross street is Golf Links Drive and Woodglen Drive in Folsom. If you click on the satellite image you can see the park.)

Royer Park | Roseville, CA

Royer Park

There really are so many great parks around here! I love Royer Park! As I walked around yesterday I realized that there was even more to do there than just playing at the parks. Sorry about the photo for the "big kid" park...we never walked over there so I didn't get any close up photos! Here are are a few of the amentities:

2 tennis courts
basketball court
Children's Art Center
LOTS of picnic tables
horseshoe pits
2 play structure areas
Baseball fields

This is definitely a fun place for both big and little kids and also another great family picture park! Behind the Veterans Hall next to the park is a darling bridge crossing the creek over there.

Mahany Park | Roseville

This park was AWESOME!! There was a gated park for little kids which was nice because I didn't need to worry about my little one running out of the area. It also has a little water table/stream, which isn't pictured. Outside the gated park is a bigger playground, swings, and a tall rope climbing structure. So much fun.

This is located right behind the public library as well as the Utility Museum (which, in my opinion, wasn't great for little children...maybe the older ones would appreciate it a little bit more.) The Roseville Aquatic Center is also located on the same property, I believe, and that is awesome too!

Location: Corner of Woodcreek Oaks and Pleasant Grove Boulevard, behind the Martha Riley library.

Memorial Park | Rocklin

Since it has been over a year and I am done being pregnant again and having a newborn AND someone I know found this thing and reminded me of it...I figured I will start up again!

This is a favorite park of ours. It is nice and small and almost hidden so often times it isn't crowded. A small playground is here along with swings and several covered picnic areas. The best part is the little water feature! I really didn't take many photos of the actual park but here are some of the water part.

Lake Park

This beautiful park is in a really nice neighborhood. I think it is supposed to be just for the people who live around it...but I never see any kids there and I have never had a problem when I go and bring my kids. We have seen all kinds of wildlife there! Ducks, geese, fish, turtles...it's a fun place!

Coyote Pond Park

This is a neighborhood park in Lincoln. The actual playground isn't all that big but there is a trail that goes around the pond and it's really pretty back there! Though there are a bunch of signs that say to watch out for rattlesnakes...and they aren't kidding! I saw at least 3 of them sunning themselves on the cement path when I was there once...it was around dusk and I think that is when they mostly come out. So just be careful!

This is also a lovely place for family pictures :)

There are no amenities, really...no restrooms...just a table or two and some benches.
